Police compiles report on Marudi beating incident to be sent to DPP for legal advice – 8th Mar 2013
The Police are compiling a report on the Marudi beating incident that will be sent to the Director of Public Persecution for legal advice next week. Commissioner of Police Leroy Brummell revealed this to Capitol News today. According to the top cop the investigating team is back in the Georgetown area, after taking statements from several eyewitnesses to the beating incident.
This newscast understands that the victims are in Boa Vista receiving medical attention. Meanwhile the APNU leader, David Granger said, there is the need for serious reforms of the Guyana Police Force. He pointed to the none implementation of the discipline forces commission.
Meantime, The Alliance for Change executive member, Valarie Lowe said, the party has categorically condemned the beating of the two men, a woman and her children by the Police.
The incident occurred last Saturday and went viral on Youtube.
Capitol News understands that the assault was aimed at removing persons who are into illegal mining in the area. The operation was part of the GGMC operation El Dorado. A probe was also launched by the GGMC into the entire exercise.
