She delivered the feature address at Parliament’s International Women’s Day programme at Tower Hotel. She outlined the struggle women had to face to ensure equality.
She said Guyana still has a long way to go to ensure that women are involved in framing national policies.
Speaker of the National Assembly, Raphael Trotman, who opened the session, acknowledged the role women have played in the development of Guyana’s Political and social landscapes.
The Speaker said Guyana has an outstanding record of women in politics when compared to other Caribbean countries.
The United Nations has designated March 8th as International Women’s Day, which is aimed at highlighting the challenges and successes women face across the globe.
