Students complain of being tricked by a bogus Nursing School – 5th Mar 2013
Students enrolled in the Guyana Healthcare Education Institute are coming forward to tell their tale of disappointment and anger that after months of paying for what they thought will be a certificate to earn them entrance into the health sector here, they may have been duped by an alleged serial trickster. The person at the centre of the controversy one, Mss Kissoon, who the students also says is no stranger to similar accusations; some dating back to 2009; She also goes by the name Donna Gomes they said. They enrolled in the nursing programme at the Robb Street location because they did not meet the requirements of the Ministry of Health’s programme which require them to have, among other subjects, Math. They have since learnt that the school programme is not accredited and want their money back.
These students have come from as far as Linden and the West Demerara and they told us that they made great sacrifices to find the $8500 per month fee for the one year programme.
They maintained that their attempts to check the authenticity of the school revealed none of the information they are now getting.
The young ladies told us that they have reported the matter to the Criminal Investigation Department and will be looking for some action in the matter. They also want the Ministry of Health to make provision for persons who fall just short of their requirements for entry.
