The Guyana Cricket Board is confident that it will get all the necessary paperwork in place by tomorrow to give the WICB the go ahead and schedule the First Test between Pakistan and the West Indies set for July at the Providence Stadium. A source close to the Board told Capitol News that all those who have to make the decisions have been contacted and they are awaiting the responses to inform the WICB.
The Board is also expecting to have 2- 4 day matches at the stadium at Providence in addition to 2 one-dayers. The West Indies want to hear from Guyana by Thursday, otherwise it has Jamaica on standby to host the First Test.
And the AGM of the GFF is set for April 15. Clubs and other officials have just 10 more days to send in their nominations for the various posts including that of the Presidency. The ten sub associations including the referees council, the coaches, association and the women’s football body are the ones whose reps will vote at the AGM for a new executive. Those elections will be run by the Electoral Commission which was formed recently at the request of FIFA /CONCACAF when those reps came to Guyana to resolve the dispute between the GFF/GFA.
