GTU believes Linden COI report is a serious indictment on the Guyana Police Force and Government – 5th Mar 2013

coiGeneral Secretary of the Guyana Trade Union Congress, Lincoln Lewis believes that the Commission of Inquiry report is a serious indictment on the Guyana Police Force and the Government.

Lewis made that assertion in an interview with this newscast. He said that the report pointed to a number of areas that the Government cannot be comfortable with. The Linden Commission of Inquiry report found the Police responsible for the shooting deaths of the Linden three protestors and the injuries of several persons.

The outspoken trade unionist said from his initial analysis of the report it does not exonerate the Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee. He said it is clear is that the management of the Police Force has come into serious question and condemnation. Lewis said after all, the Minister is responsible for the policies of the Force.

Lewis feels the Linden Commission of Inquiry report is a victory for Guyana despite what has been awarded to the families of those killed and those who were injured.
