Blairmont Estate sugar workers say they have lost confidence in their Union GAWU – 4th Mar 2013

sugar estateSugar workers attached to the Blairmont Estate say, they have lost confidence in their union GAWU, who according to them, are not giving the workers proper representation.

The workers have been on a strike for the past two weeks and told this newscast that their best efforts to have the management of the estate look into their concerns have failed.

On Sunday the workers held a picketing exercise at Bath Settlement. The workers who are drawn from the Bed Top assessment gang said, the changes GUYSUCO are implementing are coming some 33 years after.

The workers are preparing to continue to struggle until the sugar corporation can address their concerns.
