APNU says it has no faith in NCN conducting business with foreign entities – 25th Feb 2013
The party in a recent statement said, that in its opinion, the allocation of channel 27/cable 78 to CCTV of China is not above board and in violation of the Broadcast Act No. 17 of 2011.
The party says it is important to note that the Guyana National Broadcast Authority is seeking to assert its authority even though there are areas that need strengthening. The party said that in the face of many irregularities uncovered at NCN, it had asked for a copy of an investigation report into the entity but was unable to get one.
There have been several questions raised by persons in the broadcasting industry over the allocation of frequencies for radio and television operations. One question that remains unanswered by the authorities however, is who has been allocated what.
