Plans are underway to clean up the city ahead of the Mash Day celebrations – 20th Feb 2013
The Town Clerk said her office and that of the Treasurer, are the authorized administrators of the selling of spots and anyone found in breach, will be met with the full force of the law. The council has sent letters to residents along the route saying that no vending will be allowed in front of their residences. The council which says it is authorized by the Ministry of Public Works said, this is to ensure safety and security along the float route.
The Town Clerk said the Mashramani celebrations are a revenue generator for the council and so far they have generated over 4 million dollars from the sales which are also ongoing.
