Guyana Police comes under fire for unprofessional conduct once again – 19th Feb 2013
Some members of the Guyana Police Force Tactical Services Unit are coming in for sharp criticism for what some Waterloo Street residents say is their unprofessional conduct. Their comments came after the shooting of a cycle repair man, Phillip Small, called ‘skinny’, last night. Small was shot in the leg by a TSU rank.
This Newscast understands that the Police patrol observed a man acting in a suspicious manner and decided to give chase. The suspect then ran into the nearby ‘Globe yard’ with the Police on his trail. The Police are alleging that in pursuit of the man, they were prevented by Small, who attempted to stab one of the Policemen with a scissors, when he was shot in the leg by the Police.
Residents are saying that is far from the truth.
The residents are also claiming that while Small was in pain on the ground the Police proceeded to kick him. When this Newscast arrived on the scene, the Police Ranks were removing Small from the scene to seek medical attention at the GPHC.
Up to news time, Small was still a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
