Pensioner charged with murder of 33-year-old vulcanizing shop worker – 18th Feb 2013

pensioner murdererThe indictable charge of murder was today read to pensioner, Donald Mop, when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate court before acting Chief Magistrate, Priya Beharry.

Mop reportedly stabbed 33-year-old East La penitence resident, Roger Edwards, last Friday following an earlier altercation between the two. The incident took place inside of a vulcanizing shop in Tucville, where Edwards was working when he was killed.

The owner of the shop told this newscast last Friday, that the suspect appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, when he turned the weapon on the man. Edwards reportedly received one stab wound to the region of the heart.

After reading the charges the Chief Magistrate transferred the case to principal magistrate, Judy Latchman.

The witnesses were summoned by Principal Magistrate, Judy Latchman, to return to court on March 8th when the trial is expected to commence. Mop will remain in prison until the case gets underway.
