YCT speaks out on issue of non-inclusion of Guyanese workers at the Marriot Hotel site – 15th Feb 2013
The construction of the Marriott Hotel at this point is totally unnecessary and not within the nation’s priorities when there are more dire and urgent needs. That’s the view of AFC executive member, Cathy Hughes.
YCT President, Jermaine Grant, at a press briefing today said, the recent disclosure of the non-employment of Guyanese in the construction is unpatriotic and anti-Guyanese.
The Youth Arm of the APNU is of the view that all the complexities and content of the agreement to build the hotel should have been vetted in the National Assembly for public scrutiny and transparency to avoid any compromising of the national interest.
And another demonstration against the project was held at the site this morning by the opposition and other concerned organisations.
Politicians and trade union leaders slammed the Government over the move, calling it a clear violation of the constitution.
