Government and UNICEF facilitate discussions on Corporal Punishment as part of 2013 Work Plan – 15th Feb 2013
UNICEF has committed to working with the Government of Guyana on facilitating wide public discussions on Corporal Punishment as part of its 2013 Annual Work Plan.
These discussions, according to the Minister of Home Affairs, Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, had been agreed to by the select committee in Parliament that has been mandated to consult various stakeholders on the matter.
The Minister said UNICEF continues to serve Guyana, ensuring the rights of children are protected.
UNICEF’s Representative to Guyana, Dr. Suleiman Braimoh said, this year’s work plan is the second under the current five-year cycle.
He said the signing of this the 2013 Work Plan is timely.
Dr. Braimoh said, the signing of the annual work plan for 2013, signals the continued commitment of UNICEF with the Government of Guyana.
