18 to contest Carib Soca Monarch Finals after rain washes out semis in Berbice – 11th Feb 2013

shot0011Despite the rains that affected the staging of the semi-final of the Carib Soca Monarch competition, Berbicians were still treated to the best of Guyanese Soca.

All 17 of the semi-finalists will now have to bring their A game against reigning monarch, Jomo ‘Rubber Waist” Primo, as they compete for the prestigious Soca crown next Saturday at the National Park.

According to the organisers, all was set for the much anticipated competition, but after the showers came, the stage also got wet, forcing the organisers to abandon that leg of the competition.

Worrel said some of the artistes had to tone down their display.

With the cancellations of the semi-final, some people close to the Soca Monarch Competition expressed concerns over the finals, since there are now 18 acts that will be on stage.
