BREAKING NEWS: Delta will suspend its service out of Guyana from the first week of May this year, 2013.

urlDelta is expected to make the formal announcement shortly indicating that after May 6th, passengers would be unable to travel on the US carrier for non-stop service from Georgetown to New York.

Delta’s worldwide connections also allowed passengers from Guyana to access Canadian and other locations around the world.
There is no clear indication when Delta would resume service to Guyana.

When Delta pulls out, Guyana will be back to just the tried and tested Caribbean Airlines, that through its predecessor BWIA, has been serving Guyana for over six decades.

However, a Guyanese/Jamaican owned airline, Fly Jamaica, is expected to start service from Guyana, via Jamaica to New York, in a few days.

Fly Jamaica Airways is expected to take to the skies from Jamaica on Thursday, February 14, after an almost three week delay.
