Koker attendant’s negligence causes flooding – 6th Feb 2013

shot0017Residents of the Kingston area say they want to be compensated for the damage suffered after their yards were flooded.

For the second time around, the area was inundated due to what some of the residents say is the negligence of Kingston Koker operators, who did not lower the Koker overnight.

Minister of Local Government, Norman Whittaker, visited the area  and wants an investigation into why the Koker was not properly operated.

Whittaker said based on the findings of the report the necessary disciplinary action will be taken.

He said the Ministry itself does not offer compensation, but compensatory issues  are handled by City Hall.

Members of the City Engineer’s department and  the Town Clerk were also part of the team that visited the Koker.
