BREAKING NEWS: Update: Three dead in Prashad Nagar shoot- out – 6th Feb 2013
UPDATE: The Guyana Police Force has confirmed that the third person in the mid-morning shoot-out has died. The confrontation occurred as men tried to storm a Guyanese Gold Mining office in Prashad Nagar on the outskirts of Guyana’s capital Georgetown. Initial reports are that the men went to the premises with the intention of robbing it. The police had been summoned and were waiting for the persons to move into the place. The mining company is owned by Guyanese Wayne Heber. No one from the company was injured in the robbery attempt.
Earlier: Police were seen scouring the Prashad Nagar/Campbellville area in Guyana’s capital, after a shoot-out left at least two persons dead and one critically injured. Initial reports indicated that the individuals attempted to storm the premises of a Guyanese Gold Mining operation. The occupants of the building including the owner, Wayne Heber, were not injured in the attack. The Police reacted quickly and the bodies were removed to the Georgetown Hospital.
