Organisers of Mash 2013 look forward to welcoming a large contingent of overseas-based Guyanese – 5th Jan 2013
Efforts are being made by the Ministry of Culture and the Mashramani Secretariat to cater for Guyanese overseas and tourists who would be interested in coming to Guyana to soak up some of the observances and activities that will be part of the 46th Republic anniversary.
Speaking at the launching of the activities on Monday, Sports Minister Dr. Frank Anthony said his Ministry has been in communication with the Ministry of Tourism, as a means of collaborating to ensure maximum participation of returning Guyanese and tourists.
Minister Anthony said there will be some 30 bands on the road this year, which will comprise private and public sectors, Government, regions and NGOs.
The Minister said unlike other years, a conscience effort was made by the planning committee to have a balance in activities, which will see some educational activities on the mash calendar.
Already, the Minister pointed out that the vendors who would like to have a stall along the route, will have to contact the Georgetown Municipality for the necessary approval and fee payments.
This year’s mash theme is “Reflecting Creativity, Embracing Diversity”.
