GUYSUCO employee injured on the job still awaits compensation years after injury – 31st Jan 2013
A former employee of Guysuco is frustrated over what he calls, the uncaring attitude of officials of the Guyana Sugar Corporation. Clifton Charles said, he was employed as a security guard in 1999, when he was injured while performing his duties. The man said, he was being treated at various medical institutions, for injuries to his back.
Charles said, recently his wife visited the Legal Officer at Guysuco, who informed her that her Husband’s case has been closed by the Corporation. Capitol news attempted to speak wth the legal officer but was Directed to the Company Secretary who said, he cannot speak on the case since it is in court at the moment, This bit of information however was news to the Charles, who denied that they have filed any action in the court.
Charles is maintaining that he was carrying out his duties when he was injured and should be compensated for his injuries.
