Unions representing workers of GPL, not happy with wages negotiations with the company – 28th Jan 2013

shot0012One Trade Union Leader believes, that Unions must ensure that companies respect collective bargaining agreements, failing which, the Labour Movement will crumble.

NACCIE’s General Secretary, Kenneth Jospeh, made those comments to this Newscast today. His comments were in direct response to the ongoing wages dispute between, NACCIE, GPSU and GPL.

Joseph said, an agreement was signed with the utility in 2001 and now members are denied payments that were signed and agreed to.

GPSU President, Patrick Yarde, said, he is totally unhappy with the manner in which things are done by GPL.

Yarde is hoping that the negotiations can move forward but he had some reservations, while Joseph believes GPL negotiations are taking on a similar approach to what is taking place in the public sector.

The unions are hoping that good sense prevails on the part of GPL to give the workers what they rightfully deserve.
