Municipal Court may be one way to go to help bail out the cash strapped City Hall – 18th Jan 2013
City Mayor, Hamilton Green believes, that the introduction of a Municipal Court will help to fix some of the problems facing the city.
Green said the issue was put to the Government many years ago, but to date, the process is still to get off the ground.
He said one of the painful areas is collection of rates and taxes.
The council is being blamed for not doing enough to rake in large sums of rates and taxes owed to the municipality.
This criticism was accepted by the Mayor but with some explanation.
The council and Central Government met a few days ago to look into the challenges facing the city.
