Guyana Defence Force soldier dies of a heart attack during annual fitness run – 18th Jan 2013

gdf_ianblairEarly this morning a Guyana Defence Force soldier died as a result of a heart attack during the annual fitness run. The soldier was identified as 28-year old, Lance Corporal, Ian Blair.

Blair was a member of the GDF’s Intelligence Unit. Reports indicate that the soldier complained of chest pain, shortly after the five mile run began. He was rushed to the GDF’s Medical Centre by an ambulance that had been accompanying the fitness-run.

He was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he succumbed.
