shot0001Those sacked City Council workers are getting legal advice on their next move to challenge their dismissal.

The personnel and training committee of City Hall is now in receipt of the dismissal letters and officials there are reviewing the matter.

However, what is clear, is that the Minister has the powers, under the Municipal and District Council Act, Chapter 28:01 section 116 and 326, to terminate the service of any officer.

City Mayor Hamilton Green today said, the matter is engaging the legal fraternity. Green said the  Council has received two letters from the legal representatives of the dismissed workers.

The Town Clerk, Yonette Pluck, City Engineer, Gregory Erskine, Treasurer Andrew Meredith, Head of the Solid Waste Management Unit, Hubert Urling and  Troy Isaacs, Accounts Clerk  attached to the City Engineer Department were dismissed following a probe at City Hall.

The police and auditors were called in after it was discovered that there  were financial irregularities at City Hall, by consultant to the Keith Borrowers Implementation Committee, Rayon Gaskin.
