Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh believes the 2013 budget will be one with a difference – 16th Jan 2013

shot0001Minister Singh says so far, his Ministry has received submissions from both opposition parties ahead of the presentation of the budget which must be presented by March 30.

He says another follow up meeting is expected shortly, where those submissions will be discussed further.

Minister Singh says, the budget preparation is an on-going process and he would like to see all parliamentary parties putting the development of the country first.

At the Same time, Speaker of the National Assembly, Raphael Trotman, says, he doesn’t want to see a recurrence of what happened with the budget debates of 2012.

Trotman says, as part of the executive function of any Government, the National Budget is a critical part of the developmental aspects of the country.

Trotman told the media that he is working on getting the views of some international consultants regarding the  successful passage  of budgets in a situation where there is a minority Government, who can come as dialogue with the  political leaders of the three main political parties.
