AFC calls for a level playing field as Linden television station row continues – 16th Jan 2013

shot0014The Alliance For Change Executive Member, Moses Nagamootoo, wants the rights and privileges of the people of Linden to be respected, in relation to the operations of a local television station for the mining town.

The Former Minister of Information says, when channel 13 was given  to the people of Linden by the then, Green Construction, the intention was for a television station owned managed, and operated by the Regional Authority and not the Guyana Government.

As part of the Region10 Agreement, the Government had promised that they will give back the television station to the people of Linden, but has since back pedalled, with President Donald Ramotar on Friday saying, that the Linden community has to apply for a License.

Now, Nagamootoo is saying that a level playing field should be enjoyed by the people of Linden also.

The Linden TV issue took center stage at a regional rally over the weekend, that was organised by the Regional Chairman, Sharma Solomon, and other interested stakeholders.
