Residents of the mining town of Linden are still finding it hard to make ends meet – 15th Jan 2013

The lack of job opportunities, the proposed electricity tariff increases and the apparent neglect of the community, were some of the issues highlighted by Lindeners who spoke to this Newscast.

According to the residents, the once thriving community blessed with natural resources is being allowed to be reduced to nothing by the authorities.

And some young people see no hope in the community. They spoke about having the necessary qualifications but no openings were  available for them.

Aubrey Norton, at a rally at the Palm Tree Cinema, called on Lindeners to create a vision for themselves and become strong economically.

Currently, talks are under-way to make the community self sufficient, since Government help, according to the residents, is long overdue.
