Human Services Ministry to establish child support department – 10th Jan 2013
“Pay up or we will come after you.” That is the message the Ministry of Human Services would like to send to delinquent fathers as it looks to implement a special programme to encourage them to pay up.
Human Services Minister, Jennifer Webster said the Ministry is also hoping to create a department that will deal specifically with payment and maintenance of children by their fathers.
Once again the Ministry is hoping that the Family Court that will deal with matters like child support will soon be operational.
The new Court is being housed in the Supreme Court compound which was constructed over two years ago.
The new facility will handle other issues such as divorce, division of property, domestic matters, adoption, guardianship and custody.
Since 2009, the current administration granted its approval for the establishment of the court but it is yet to be functional.
