Safe house for domestic violence victims to be established – 8th Jan 2013
The Government is hoping that with the establishment of a safe home for domestic violence victims, those looking to flee violent relations can have the option to do so and find shelter. Domestic violence remains a major problem within society as women are brutally beaten and murdered.
Through a private investor, the safe home will be constructed in Region 3 according to Human Services Minister, Jennifer Webster.
The National Conversation on Domestic and Gender Base violence, which started last year is expected to be concluded by June and already calls are being made for a more community approach on the issue.
The Ministry is looking to work closer with the police and other key stakeholders to improve the way such cases are dealt with especially in a timely manner.
