Investigations into the Pomeroon River accident which left six persons dead continue – 4th Jan 2013
Transport Minister, Robeson Benn, has reiterated, that the investigation is still in the preliminary stage and no one has been found at fault in any way for the Pomeroon River accident last month.
He said, that due process under the law should be allowed to take place before blaming anyone, since there was very heavy rainfall at the time of the accident.
Opposition member, Joseph Harmon, in the National Assembly had questioned the Minister about the accident on Thursday. Criminal charges were recommended by the Maritime Administration Department in its report to the Police.
Benn admitted that several breaches were uncovered by the Maritime Administration Department.
Only a 12-year-old survived the boat mishap on December 18th, when a boat assigned to the Region Two administration collided with a smaller vessel in the Pomeroon River.
