An over capacity crowd flocked the world famous GCC Ground Bourda to witness the GFA Banks Beer Knock Out Soccer final between Sunburst Campton of Campbellville and Mocha’s Riddim Squad.
Both teams displayed exciting football in an energetic and hyped game much to the approval of the crowd.
In the end the Campbellville team Sunburst Campton was the four million dollars winner after edging out Riddim Squad from Mocha 2-0.
It was jubilation in the Sunburst Campton camp as the players recalled what led to the goals.
Meanwhile Riddim squad who surprised many to reach this far in the tournament was gracious in defeat.
And army boys were pulled in line by Northern Rangers 3 goals to 1 in the third place action. The GDF, one of the favourites for the tournament failed to break ranks of the Ranger’s defence.
This is the 2nd edition of the GFA Banks competition and already patrons are looking forward to next year.
And it was down to the wire at the National Stadium as Buxton United and Amelia’s Ward battled for top honours in the 23rd edition of Kashif and Shanghai football championship. After playing to a goalless drawn at the end of regulation and extra time the East Coast team came out on top in the penalty shoot-out.
Watched by a fair sized crowd both teams gave a good account of themselves but failed to make the score.
The third place action saw Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United defeating Pele 3-1.
Dwayne Jacobs from Buxton was adjudged MVP of the tournament and drove away with a brand new car courtesy of Beharry Automotive Limited.
Already the organizers are looking at reforming the competition next year.
And the after football entertainment drew large crowd at Bourda with dancehall King Beenieman dishing out hits songs. At the stadium it was a more subdued atmosphere. Movado also had the crowd there in a frenzy.
