Police arrests Coast Guard member for possession of illicit drugs, charges still to be instituted 72 hours after – 27th Dec 2012
A Coast Guard member, Travis Gilbert, is in the lock ups at La Grange Police Station for allegedly having in his possession a small quantity of illicit drugs, but after 72 hours, the Police are still to institute any charges.
Police sources told Capitol News, that the man is a known drug pusher in the Pouderoyen community, but family members of the young man said, that the this is the fifth time this same group of Policemen are arresting the young solider. According to the boy’s parents, Bernadette and Frank Gilbert, he was beaten.
Two eyewitnesses to the incident also related what they saw when the young man was arrested.
Gilbert was expected to appear in court today. Capitol News understands, that the Police are seeking the advice of the DPP on the matter.
