APNU believes it has been able to force the Government to be more responsive and responsible – 27th Dec 2012
A Partnership for National Unity believes, it has been able over the past year, to get the Government to be more responsive to the concerns of the Guyanese people and to start the process of becoming even more accountable. The APNU Leaders at a Press conference today said, though there are still hurdles, they have been able the force the administration to be more responsive and responsible.
But with the Government still going ahead and spending money and then coming to the Assembly with supplementary budget provisions as if its business as usual, the APNU said, it will be dealing with that issue.
The elections of November 2011, saw the combined opposition the AFC and APNU taking control of the National Assembly, with the majority but the PPP still holding onto the Presidency and Government.
The APNU has said it is ready to head into snap elections if those elections are called by the Government, but the grouping makes it clear that there are still a number of electoral issues to be worked out before any such elections could take place.
