GPL workers not satisfied with 5% salary, Unions still to take action – 21st Dec 2012
GPL workers will be awaiting word from their Unions about the next course of action in the Union’s rejection of the 5% offer by the GPL management. The Unions which represent nearly 1000 Junior and Senior workers, are the GPSU and NAACIE, and according to Kenneth Joseph of NAACIE, in a joint statement said that since 2007, the GPL management has moved away from the Collective Bargaining process.
The GPSU has convened a special General Council meeting as the next step, after their rejection with the hope of getting a mandate on the next step forward and according to GPSU President, Patrick Yarde, a decision will be made at the conclusion of the GC.
The Union Leaders said, that the workers support them in their decision to reject the offer and will be looking to the company to be more forthcoming in its offer.
