Bandits rob four Bourda Market stalls – 19th Dec 2012

Irate Bourda Market stallholders are not happy with the level of security provided by the Municipality. The stallholders expressed their frustration after four stalls were broken into on Tuesday night. The bandits using a cutting torch, broke through the metal shutters to Trini’s, J Ashby and Roy’s Pharmacy stalls and the locks of Data’s Grocery.

According to the proprietors, the bandits took cash, milk and confectionery items.

City Mayor, Hamilton Green, this morning visited the victims and assured them, that the Council will try to address the security issue.

The market has no power supply and stallholders feel that their best interest is not being looked into by Council.

In addition to the power problem, the leaking roof and drainage are all issues that have affected stallholders for years, without any serious move to address their concerns.
