WI players could be cashing in on big bucks in their own 20/20 league, as the WICB announces a partnership with a major investor. The WICB today announced its Partnership with Verus, which is a Barbados-based investment merchant bank, with a branch in New York. It is headed by Ajmal Khan and the professional league will have up to six privately owned teams with the majority of players coming from the WI.
According to the WICB, the partnership will see a huge injection of funds into the Caribbean and will create a significant number of Jobs. The WICB said, the players stand to benefit from year round retainer contracts under the partnership.
The last such partnership ended in embarrassment and failure when now disgraced and imprisoned Texan billionaire, Allen Stanford, came to the Caribbean with the Stanford 20/20 cup.
The GFA Banks Knock-out Cup continued with a drama filled double header at the GFC ground last night. That encounter ended 3-2 after Rusal came from 2 goals down in extra time to clinch the victory and leave the Eagles team in tears.
