University of Guyana closes in on a new Vice Chancellor – 11th Dec 2012
The University of Guyana has closed in on a new Vice Chancellor, and Professor Jacob Opadeyi, of UWI Trinidad and Tobago, has been tapped for the job. He is a Professor of engineering surveying. The members of the University’s sub-committee unanimously agreed to hiring Professor Opadeyi and it is now just a matter of the UG Council formalising and ratifying that decision and the Professor accepting the offer. He was one of four candidates interviewed for the position. The last Vice Chancellor of the University of Guyana, Professor Lawrence Carrington, pushed for a reform of the University, with an effort to make it more modern.
