Eagle United and Rusal All-Stars secure place in next round of GFA Banks Knock-out – 10th Dec 2012
Two Linden teams, Eagles United and Rusal All-Stars, booked their places into the next round of the second GFA Banks Knock-out Tournament. The action which got off to an early start on Sunday due to the number of teams participating in this year’s tournament, saw Rusal defeating Banks All-Stars by a one-nil margin. According to Captain of Rusal, the team would be looking to up their performance in the next game.
Meanwhile, Eagles United came from behind to defeat Victoria Kings All-Stars two goals to one.
The action in the tournament continue Wednesday at the GFC ground with a double header, Ann’s Grove All-Stars vs. Botofago and Rusal plays Eagles United. The official opening ceremony is set for this Sunday at the GCC ground, Bourda.
Still in football; Leopold Street is the new champ of the Guinness Greatest of the Streets in the city, playing in front of a sizeable crowd at the National Park on Saturday. Leopold Street defeated defending champion Back Circle one-nil. The lone goal was scored by Captain Omallo Williams, who said it was a victory well deserved for the team.
Guinness Brand Manager, Lee Baptiste said, the tournament was the best seen so far as Banks DIH prepares to launch the tournament in other regions of the country.

And in body building; He may be small in stature but Suriname’s Soepe Koese stood out above his counterparts, to lift the over all title of the Mr. Flex Night held on Saturday at the National Cultural Centre. The little giant defeated Guyana’s four-time CAC champion Sylvon Gardner in the 154-pound class, while in the overall title he out muscled Rawle Green who finished second. In the female line up, Alisha Fortune won the Ms. Flex night over Candacy Lynch of Guyana. Guyana won the country title.
