WICB puts damp squib on proposed draft constitution of the IMC – 7th Dec 2012
The GFA, Banks DIH sponsored Knockout First Division gets cracking on Sunday at the GFC Ground Bourda ,with a Double Header. Banks All Stars take on Rusal and the feature game pit Victoria Kings All Star against Eagles United FC, at 8. Over twenty teams are expected to do battle in the tournament which is being played on a Knockout basis.
Teams can make only 3 substitutions and are allowed to register no more than 25 players. They are also allowed only 3 guest players who must not be members of Pele Alpha Western Tigers and must not be registered to play in any other tournament during the knockout tournament.
The WICB has put a damp squib on the proposed Draft Constitution of the IMC.
The West Indies Cricket Board told the Minister of Sport, that the Cricket Administration bill being submitted for consideration seems to run counter to many aspects of the WICB. The WICB says, there seems to be too much Ministerial intrusion into the affairs of the Board. The WICB is also taking exception to the intentions of the Minister to replace the GCB that was in place. The WICB asserted that it would never infringe the right of the Minister of Sport to enquire into any board to see if any criminal acts were committed and if there is mismanagement but disclosed that it is uncomfortable with the seeming reporting relationship that may be mandated by the legislation. The IMC appointed by the Minister of Sport has been drafting the new constitution which was circulated among the territorial boards.
