GYSM describes Attorney General’s move to the court as disrespectful – 4th Dec 2012
The GYSM, the youth arm of the PNC/R believes, that the Attorney General is disrespectful of the authority of the National Assembly by moving to the courts.
It all has to do the opposition’s no-confidence motion against Minister of Home Affairs, Clement Rohee.
The Government has withdrawn its High Court challenge of the no-confidence motion saying it has been overtaken by recent events with the efforts to gag the Minister now before the National Assembly Committee of Privileges.
At a briefing today at congress place Sophia, General Secretary, Adele Lilly, of the GYSM said, the Attorney General must be cognizant that Parliament is the premier law making body in the state of Guyana and is empowered to regulate itself.
The GYSM believes the attack on the Speaker of the National Assembly is aimed at undermining public confidence in the National Assembly.
