Midwives Association looks at ways to address growing reports of maternal death – 30th Nov 2012
The Midwives Association met for a Seminar today and according to Chairperson of the Midwives Association, Maria Francois, it was aimed at refocusing their efforts to best serve their profession. She said, the Association remains committed to the fight to reduce maternal deaths.
Addressing the Association was Minister of Health, Dr. Bheri Ramsarran, and he used the opportunity to lambaste the Association for what he says is poor leadership. Minister Ramsarran listed several areas where he believes the Association needs to show leadership.
But the Chairperson of the Association says, that they would welcome more support from the Ministry of Health to eradicate several of the issues of concern.
The Association was commended for its growth in membership, but were charged to also grow qualitatively.
