Squatters aback of the Chinese Embassy face eviction as expansion work begins – 28th Nov 2012

Squatters at the back of the Chinese Embassy on Mandela Avenue are contemplating their next move as expansion work on the area is in full swing.

The squatters told Capitol News, that they applied to the Housing Ministry for  land and they are hoping that the Ministry can speed up the process.

The squatters, many of whom have been living in the area for decades said, they were caught off guard by the developer.

Former President,  Forbes Burnham ,once occupied land in the area. Capitol News understands, that the squatters were given up to next week to remove from the area as the works continue. The work is currently being done by a Chinese developer.
