QC moves in – 27th Nov 2012
Students of Queens College, today, began their shift system at the Richard Ishmael Secondary school beginning classes at 12:30 this midday and wrapping up at 4:30 in the afternoon. The Richard Ishmael students attended their classes from 7:30 in the morning and wrapped up at 12:15.
Late yesterday afternoon the Chief Education Officer met with parents and teachers of both schools to brief them of the arrangements that are expected to last just for this week but could possibly roll over into next week.
The move to have the QC students housed temporarily at the Richard Ishmael came as a result of an infestation of fleas over at Queens College. Exterminators have been working for over a week to tackle the problem.
Some parents and students believe that stray dogs and cats which have made the QC compound their home are to be blamed for the flea infestation.
The education ministry has said it is closely monitoring the situation and making all efforts to ensure all is safe for the students and teachers return.
