Islamic Conference urges Muslims to work with youths affected by drugs and alcohol – 27th Nov 2012

“Advancing the Mission of the Prophet Muhammad”, was the theme of an Islamic conference held at the International Conference Centre at Liliendaal over the weekend.

Imam Haseeb Yusaf called on Muslims to work among young people whose lives are being destroyed by alcohol, drugs and the disintegration of the family unit, functional illiteracy and the lack of skills and social values.

APNU Chairman and Leader of the opposition David Granger, told the conference that the Guyana Islamic Trust has being silently, but steadfastly articulating the values and propagating the principles of Islam.

Tourism Minister, Irfan Ali, lauded the GIT for their positive influences on the  society.

The Conference saw participation from the US, Canadian, the Caribbean and other countries.
