The 52nd National School’s Championships, sponsored by Digicel, is now under-way at the Providence National stadium, are set to exceed all others in terms of organisation and support. This is the expectation of GTU President, Colin Bynoe.
Several field events including Cycling, Javelin and the Long Jumps, were well under-way during this morning. The feature 100m dash was run off last evening and Stephan James once again stamped his authority on the field in the under 20 division and according to Bynoe, the GTU is pleased with the levels of participation by the regions this year. He noted, that Regions 8 and 9 who have traditionally had transportation difficulties, came into the city early.
Bynoe also wants to see the Ministry of Education harnessing the talents being exposed at the Championships.
The Championships are also receiving massive corporate support Bynoe disclosed, adding that he wants to ensure the support continues.
