GPSU lashes out at actions of Government operatives – 22nd Nov 2012
The union that represents the majority of public servants, the GPSU, is lashing out at the action of operatives of the Government with whom they have to interact.
In fact, the union considers the conduct of those operatives despicable.
Union President, Patrick Yarde, told the media, should the situation be non-accommodating between the union and Government over the wages and salary dispute, then the Guyanese people should hold the Government accountable.
Over the past 17 years the Government has resorted to salary impositions rather than coming to compromise across the bargaining table. The GPSU is proposing a 25% increase across the board but once again talks with the Government is heading nowhere.
The union is willing to give the Government reasonable time as they consider their next move.
