VC position to be filled soon at University – 21st Nov 2012
The search for a new Vice Chancellor may soon be over as the University of Guyana plans to put the four persons it short-listed in the public’s eye. Starting tomorrow Thursday one of the applicants will make a 5-minute presentation on a topic of his choice to the University community and other stakeholders.
This will take place in the Education lecture theatre at 5 in the afternoon. Similar presentations will be done by the other 3 short-listed persons. At his weekly press briefing, Dr. Roger Luncheon said, of the four persons, three are Guyanese from the Diaspora, and the other a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago.
Dr. Luncheon said the University of Guyana Council which is tasked with the selection will begin the interviews for the vacant post of Vice-Chancellor of the University of Guyana.
Nineteen applications were submitted for the post. The candidates are expected in the country from November 20 to December 4 in order to be assessed. Dr. Marlene Cox has been acting in the position of Vice Chancellor since last July.
