Guyana Government confident about prospects of struggling sugar industry – 15th Nov 2012
The Government is confident about the prospects of the struggling sugar industry, but the sugar union, GAWU, believes that Skeldon must perform better in order to save the industry from further setbacks.
GAWU President, Komal Chand said, despite the increase in production, the industry is not out of trouble.
Chand said, that an adequate supply of Cane is pivotal to raising the production output of Skeldon.
Sugar has seen some tough times since the European Union implemented its 36% price cut.
