Taxi driver charged with Trafficking in Narcotics – Nov 9th 2012
This is what the vehicle looks like this morning, after the dead and injured were removed. Sources told Capitol News, the driver was speeding around the turn, in the vicinity of the Providence Stadium, when he lost control of the vehicle, which slammed into a utility pole. The vehicle was cut in half with the occupants in the front seat trapped.
The Guyana Fire Service was summoned to the scene to rescue the occupants from the wreckage.
Those dead are 19-year-old Christopher Chung and Corwin Lambert, 16.
Both of the teenagers are from Agricola, two other passengers in the vehicle were seriously injured.
Today at Chung’s residence, his cousin, Onieka Gilkes said, they got the news of the accident just around 10:30. Gilkes said, when his parents and other relatives got to the Georgetown Hospital Chung was already dead.
Erla Lambert mother of the 16-year-old, Corwin, spoke of her last moments with her son.
She said earlier in the night her son was drinking.
The two injured are receiving medical attention at the GPHC, after suffering broken limbs.
