Home Affairs Minister Rohee has no intention to go – Nov 8th 2012
A defiant Home Affairs Minister, Clement Rohee today said, he does not intend to move from that portfolio as long as he enjoys the confidence of the President and his cabinet Colleagues.
The Home Affairs minister was speaking just after the speaker was forced to adjourn today’s sitting of the National Assembly as the opposition protested in the House against the Minister speaking before the same National Assembly that has no confidence in him. Rohee said he does not understand the opposition’s move since he was not on the electoral list of any of the opposition parties.
The Minister who last week appeared before the Linden Commission of Inquiry and denied any involvement in the police operations at the Linden protest on July 18th said, he is confident that when the commission’s final report comes out, he will be cleared.
The Home Affairs Minister is one of the longest serving Ministers in the PPP Cabinet. He has been a Minister in the Government since 1992, covering 3 portfolios in that time.
