Fire guts East Coast chow mein factory – Nov 6th 2012
Businessman, Gildarie Persaud, is determined to get back on his feet after fire gutted his small factory at Trimuph on the East Coast of Demerara.
Persaud said, he lost in excess of 6 million dollars in equipment, stock and other items.
He said around 7:45 last night, he and his son, were doing their final checks on the business before going to bed when they saw smoke inside the factory.
Persaud said, that he started the factory in February this year and he had 10 employees including himself and son.
He said, that he was into bottling seasoning, peppers and manufacturing chow mein. The business was not insured.
He said, he is thankful to the residents who came out in their numbers and formed a bucket brigade and managed to contain the blaze until the Guyana Fire Service arrived.
