Illegal landing pilot being sought

Guyana’s  Transport Minister, Robeson Benn, today told the media, that the Cessna 421 aircraft was grounded at the Ogle Airport for two months prior to its departure last Saturday. He said, that maintenance work was being done on the aircraft at Ogle.

The Minister was briefing the media on the mysterious landing of the Brazil-bound aircraft at an illegal airstrip in the interior region. He said, the pilot is still being  sought by the investigators.

The Minister said, that the civil aviation authority is suspicious of  everything as it pertain to the aircraft. Many believe that that particular airstrip is used to conduct criminal activities.

According to Been, what was troubling, was that the  pilot did not give a distinct transmission to the civil aviation authorities, the colour and the number of the aircraft were changed.

The aircraft was piloted by a Brazilian national. The Minister said, that the airstrip was disabled about two years ago.
